On October 30, 2024, at approximately 6:11 p.m., San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Ellis and Jones Streets in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 64-year-old William Edward Clark lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Clark was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The SFPD Homicide Unit launched an investigation into Clark's death, treating it as an active homicide case. Investigators conducted searches and collected evidence from residences in San Francisco, Hayward, and Antioch. These efforts led to the identification of 22-year-old Hayward resident, Michael Javius, as a suspect. Javius was subsequently arrested and booked into jail on charges of murder and conspiracy.
As of now, the SFPD has not disclosed a potential motive for the shooting, and it remains unclear whether Clark and Javius were acquainted.
