On the evening of March 22, 2023, the life of 33-year-old Nicholas Jerome Perry, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Jackson, Tennessee. The events of that night unfolded when Jackson Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 100 block of West Deaderick Street at approximately 8:55 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Perry deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation into the death of Nicholas Perry quickly led to the identification and arrest of a suspect, 30-year-old Thomas Ray Fuller Jr. Fuller was not only a person of interest in Perry's death but was also connected to another violent incident that occurred earlier the same evening. According to court records, Fuller's sister, Takeisha Fuller, who was also Nicholas Perry's fiancée, had given her brother a ride to a location on Hollywood Drive. After they arrived, Thomas Fuller allegedly began shooting at his sister. She managed to escape unharmed and returned home to the devastating discovery of her fiancé's body.
Investigators found matching 9mm shell casings at both the scene of the shooting on Hollywood Drive and the location where Nicholas Perry was found, linking Thomas Fuller to both crimes. As a result, Fuller was taken into custody and subsequently faced serious charges, including the first-degree murder of Nicholas Perry and the attempted first-degree murder of his sister, Takeisha Fuller.
The case proceeded through the legal system, and in September 2023, significant developments occurred during court proceedings. Takeisha Fuller took the stand to testify against her own brother, recounting the harrowing events of the night that her fiancé was killed and her own life was threatened. The investigation remained ongoing as authorities continued to gather information.
