In the late hours of a Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 35-year-old Juan Marquez was tragically cut short. On April 8, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Marquez was found with multiple gunshot wounds just outside the door of his apartment at the Sudekum Apartments on Charles E. Davis Boulevard. Emergency responders rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Marquez, a dedicated bricklayer, had
moved to the United States at the age of 15 with the dream of creating a better life for his family. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his loved ones. His sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through his family and the local community, leaving his widow, Melody, and their family to grapple with an immense loss. A significant breakthrough came in September 2023 when authorities located a suspect. Edwin Harris, also 35 years old, was taken into custody in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on unrelated charges. The Davidson County Grand Jury had indicted Harris on the charge of first-degree murder for the death of Juan Marquez. Following his arrest, arrangements were made to transfer Harris back to Nashville to face the murder charge brought against him.
