In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Nashville, the vibrant pulse of the Trap Up Studio, a hookah bar on Hill Avenue, was tragically silenced by gunfire. David Bickham, a 27-year-old man working as the DJ for the night, was fatally shot and died at the scene on April 23, 2023. Another man, 26-year-old Tarrell Grant, was also wounded in the shooting and later succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Metro Nashville Police responded to the chaotic scene at
approximately 2 a.m.. Inside the establishment, they discovered Bickham and the seriously injured Grant. A firearm was recovered from within the hookah bar as homicide detectives began their investigation into the double homicide.
Authorities immediately started looking into the possibility that an altercation between Bickham and Grant inside the bar may have led to the deadly shooting. Detectives worked to determine the sequence of events and whether anyone else was involved in the gunfire. At the time of the initial reports, no suspect had been taken into custody.
