In the early moments of a Sunday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, a Guatemalan man's life was tragically cut short in a fatal act of violence. Francisco Ico Anx, a 37-year-old male, was with a friend outside an apartment on Patricia Drive when they were suddenly confronted by four men intent on robbery. The assailants demanded their possessions, but Anx resisted.
In the struggle that ensued, one of the suspects fired a single, fatal shot that struck Anx in the stomach.
As Francisco Ico Anx lay wounded, the robbers turned their attention to his friend, shoving him to the ground with a chilling threat on his life should he attempt to move. They proceeded to take his wallet, passport, Guatemalan ID, and an undisclosed amount of cash. With their loot in hand, the four men fled the scene on foot, disappearing into the surrounding neighborhood. Emergency services were called, and Anx was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the murder, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the four suspects. The friend of the deceased was able to provide descriptions of two of the assailants to the authorities. One of the men was described as being approximately 5'6' tall and in his mid-20s, with his hair cut short around the ears and neck and left longer on top. The second suspect was said to be taller, around 5'8', in his mid-30s, and distinguished by a long beard. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in the case, and the identities of the suspects remain unknown.
