On May 12, 2021, Jashaun Cane-Germane, a 24-year-old man from Nashville, TN, was fatally shot outside a market on Lafayette Street. The incident occurred after Cane-Germane got into an argument with another man inside the store, which continued outside. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
