On May 13, 2023, in East Nashville, Tennessee, 53-year-old Letha R. Hayes was tragically killed by gunfire outside her home on South 7th Street. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m., just as Hayes was beginning to celebrate her birthday. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Hayes was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire when individuals inside an SUV opened fire on two men nearby. She was struck by stray bullets and pronounced dead at the scene.
