In the early morning hours of October 1, 2023, tragedy struck in Nashville, Tennessee, ending the life of 17-year-old Jesus Daniel Martinez Garcia. The male teenager was a passenger in a pickup truck at the Blue Note Apartments on Millwood Drive when the vehicle came under gunfire around 2:40 a.m. Garcia was fatally wounded in the shooting.
Following the burst of violence, the driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Elmer Chacon, reportedly fled the vehicle.
Garcia’s family arrived at the scene and rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal. Another passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries and was also treated at Vanderbilt. In the immediate aftermath, police located the abandoned pickup truck at the apartment complex. Chacon, the driver, was later charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the fatal shooting, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. No arrests have been made in connection with Garcia's death. Law enforcement has reached out to the public for assistance in locating a vehicle believed to be connected to the unidentified suspects. The vehicle of interest is a white, four-door Infiniti sedan with several distinguishing features, including a black gas cap, a spoiler, and after-market rims. At the time of the shooting, the car was displaying a temporary license plate. Authorities have circulated surveillance images of the car and are urging anyone with information to come forward. A cash reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the death of Jesus Daniel Martinez Garcia.
