On October 1, 2023, 29-year-old Officer Tucker Blakely of the Knoxville Police Department was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call in the Inskip area of Knoxville, Tennessee. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed suspect, leading to an exchange of gunfire during which Officer Blakely sustained critical injuries. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
