On December 19, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting near the North Hills Apartments on Orchard Avenue. En route, they discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a fence in the 2900 block of Washington Pike. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Ernest Glenn of Knoxville, was found unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
