In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 29-year-old Keiahtee Terrell was tragically cut short. On October 22, 2023, his body was discovered by a passerby in a grassy area of Shelby Park, near a parking lot on Shelby Avenue. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim, whose full name was Keiahtee Jamal Terrell, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into his death revealed a pre-arranged meeting that spiraled into deadly
violence. Homicide detectives determined that Terrell had gone to the park the previous night, accompanied by three friends, to engage in a physical fight with Marcus Gurley, a 33-year-old man with whom he had an ongoing dispute. The two men began to fight, and according to witnesses, both fell to the ground during the altercation.
What was intended to be a fistfight took a fatal turn when both men got back on their feet. At that point, Gurley allegedly produced a handgun and shot Terrell multiple times. The investigation, led by Homicide Detective James Davis, pieced together this sequence of events, leading to a warrant for Gurley's arrest.
Less than two weeks after the shooting, on November 4, 2023, Marcus Gurley was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide for the death of Keiahtee Terrell. He was also charged with a violation of an order of protection in an unrelated matter. Gurley was subsequently booked into jail.
