In early December, a dispute in the parking lot of a Nashville convenience market tragically escalated, claiming the life of 34-year-old Bryan Thompson. The incident unfolded on December 3rd, outside a Kwik Sak on Clarksville Pike, where Thompson had arrived in his Jeep.
An altercation erupted between Thompson and a teenager, which led to an exchange of gunfire. Thompson was struck by a bullet to his head while inside his vehicle.
He was critically wounded and succumbed to his injuries on the following Monday.
The investigation into the shooting led detectives to 16-year-old Thomas Battle. The conflict reportedly began after Battle arrived at the market in a stolen car that belonged to Thompson's brother. Following the verbal dispute, both Thompson and Battle allegedly fired their weapons.
In the days following the shooting, Battle, accompanied by his mother, surrendered to police headquarters. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide. During a consensual search of Battle's bedroom, detectives discovered a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol loaded with 18 rounds inside a shoebox. Battle is currently being held at juvenile detention.
