On a cold Friday night in Nashville, Tennessee, just before the stroke of midnight on January 15, 2017, the life of 28-year-old Vontrekus Keon Lockett was tragically cut short. Lockett, a male, was returning to his residence at 1802 Borowood Drive with a friend when they were suddenly confronted by an armed man. The assailant, concealed by dark clothing, a hoodie, and a bandana covering his face, pointed a gun at the two men and demanded they hand over cash and heroin.

Forced to comply, Lockett and his friend were ordered inside the apartment. Shortly after entering, the gunman opened fire. The chaotic scene left Lockett with fatal wounds. His friend was shot in the leg, and Lockett's girlfriend, who was already inside the apartment when they arrived, was also struck in the leg by the gunfire. In the ensuing moments, the shooter fled the scene, disappearing into the night just before police officers arrived.

The investigation into Vontrekus Lockett's murder was launched, but the assailant has never been identified or apprehended. The case has since gone cold, leaving his family and the Nashville community without answers or justice. The Metro Nashville Police Department continues to list the case as unsolved and encourages anyone with information regarding the murder of Vontrekus Keon Lockett to come forward.
