Victor C. Connor, a 24-year-old Black man from Nashville, Tennessee, died in the early hours of Sunday, August 28, 2016, after a shooting in North Nashville near the intersection of 11th Avenue North and Cockrill Street. The night unraveled in fragments: neighbors later told investigators they heard what sounded like gunfire not long after midnight, and the silence that followed stretched for hours before anyone realized a life had been taken.
