In the early evening of a summer day in West Nashville, a targeted and brutal attack claimed the life of 35-year-old Jorge Noel Cruz-Garcia. The male victim had just finished a visit to a market on Charlotte Pike and was returning to his vehicle when the fatal encounter unfolded. As he approached his car, a vehicle that had strategically backed into an adjacent parking lot, carrying four individuals, became the source of a sudden and violent ambush.
Four gunmen emerged from the waiting
vehicle and opened fire on Cruz-Garcia. In a desperate attempt to escape the barrage of bullets, he ran across the street before collapsing on Charlotte Pike. The assailants were relentless. After returning to their vehicle, they drove towards the fallen man and fired upon him several more times as he lay on the ground. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, the severity of his injuries proved fatal.
Homicide detectives with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department are actively investigating the murder. They are pursuing various leads in what they have described as a targeted killing. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and have offered a reward for details that lead to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the death of Jorge Noel Cruz-Garcia. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the four suspects remain at large.
