Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 56-year-old Lisa Long and 52-year-old Ronald Zangari inside the home. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Schuylkill County Coroner, Dr. David J. Moylan III, later determined that both deaths resulted from gunshot wounds to the head. The coroner classified Lisa Long's death as a homicide and Ronald Zangari's as a suicide, concluding that the incident was a murder-suicide.
Authorities have stated that this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Pennsylvania State Police Troop L Major Case Team conducted the investigation. No arrests were made, as the identified suspect, Mr. Zangari, was deceased.
Lisa Long was born on August 25, 1966, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Charles and Emma Long. She attended Pottsville schools and graduated from McCann School of Business. She is survived by her sons, Richard Jr. and John Pauley, several grandchildren, and multiple siblings. Her obituary notes that she enjoyed writing, photography, crafting, nature, music, and other creative pursuits.
