In the afternoon of April 11, 2023, 22-year-old Zhakira Bailey and a friend arrived on the 2500 block of North 10th Street in North Philadelphia to pick up another friend who needed a ride. Shortly before 4 p.m., what should have been a simple act of kindness turned into a tragedy. As Zhakira was walking away from a man later identified as Jahir Williams-Hill, he allegedly opened fire, shooting her multiple times.
