On April 16, 2023, at approximately 12:28 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 6400 block of Lawndale Street in the Lawndale section of Philadelphia. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Taj Sledge lying outside his residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. Officers immediately transported him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead that afternoon.
