In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Federal Hill Park, the life of 39-year-old Melvin Thompson was tragically cut short. On September 13, 2020, the popular Baltimore park, usually a place of community and recreation, became a scene of violence and chaos. Around 11 p.m., the sound of four gunshots pierced the night, sending people who were in the park scattering in every direction. Residents living nearby heard the frantic screams of those fleeing the area.
