On a late spring day in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a community was shaken by the violent death of a local man. Malik Ameen Sanders, a 50-year-old male, was found shot to death on Friday, May 5, 2023. The incident occurred inside his apartment building located on Library Street.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 400 block of Library Street just before noon. Upon their arrival, they discovered Sanders, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later found him at the bottom of the steps outside the front door of his ground-floor apartment. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide.

In the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that Sanders' vehicle, which was in the apartment building's parking lot, had been damaged. Despite the ongoing efforts of the Allegheny County Police homicide detectives, no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting. The case remains an unsolved homicide.

As part of a broader initiative to address unsolved killings in Allegheny County, law enforcement has publicly appealed for assistance in Sanders' case. They believe that individuals who lived in or near his apartment building may possess crucial information that could help move the investigation forward. Authorities have urged anyone with details, regardless of how insignificant they may seem, to come forward and have assured that callers can remain anonymous.
