On May 23, 2023, Philadelphia police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on the 2400 block of South 11th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old Margaux Marie Leuzzi in the backyard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Inside the home, officers found her husband, 55-year-old Joseph Messina, in a bedroom with a self-inflicted rifle wound; he was also pronounced dead by first responders.
