In the late hours of a summer evening in Philadelphia, tragedy befell 20-year-old Ziyir K. Wright. On August 21, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the 1500 block of North 61st Street. When police arrived at the scene, they found the young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders acted quickly, transporting Wright to Lankenau Hospital. He was listed in critical condition as medical staff fought to save his life.

Another individual, a 19-year-old female, was also a victim of the shooting, sustaining several gunshot wounds and being transported to the same hospital in critical condition.
