In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Philadelphia, a promising young life was abruptly cut short. Chase Myles, a 20-year-old male student at Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication, was found lying between two parked cars on the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Originally from Bowie, Maryland, Myles was known as a bright and engaged student, respected by his peers and faculty alike.
The incident, which occurred on February 6, 2025, sent shockwaves through the Temple University community.
Responding to reports of a person with a gun around 11 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers discovered the tragic scene. Myles was rushed to Temple University Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation, with evidence at the scene suggesting a narcotics-related motive. A bag of marijuana and two handguns were recovered at the location.
A fellow Temple University student, 23-year-old Nicholas Iaderosa, was taken into custody at the scene. Reports indicate that Iaderosa and Myles knew each other and had arranged to meet that night. Iaderosa remained at the scene and was cooperative with the authorities. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and other related offenses. A third individual, who was with Myles at the time of the shooting, was also taken into custody as a witness. The investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter is ongoing, with police reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
