Josephus Butler, a 41-year-old resident of Philadelphia, was fatally shot on November 23, 2016. The incident took place at around 9:49 p.m. when Philadelphia Police Officers responded to a call on the 2000 block of West Turner Street. Upon arriving, officers found Butler near the front door of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
