On November 23, 2023, at approximately 11:49 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to reports of a person with a gun on the 6700 block of Ogontz Avenue in the West Oak Lane neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Jonathan Bantum lying unresponsive in the doorway of the Ogontz Mini Market, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Jefferson-Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:58 a.m.
