On a Mother's Day that would forever be marked by tragedy, 32-year-old Tyler Griffin, a male resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot on May 14, 2017. The vibrant atmosphere of a party on Boise Avenue was shattered by gunfire, leaving Griffin with multiple gunshot wounds to his back. This violent act marked the city's 40th homicide of the year.
