In the early evening of January 28, 2024, the life of 21-year-old Jason Jamar Ferguson, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The fatal incident unfolded at approximately 6:20 p.m. near the intersection of West 7th and Lamokin Streets in Chester, Pennsylvania. Officers from the Chester Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and, upon their arrival, discovered Ferguson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was swiftly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Born on March 22, 2002, Jason was a resident of Chester and a father to a young son, Jeremiah Jamar Ferguson. Described as having a heart of gold, he was known for his generosity and a smile that could light up a room. He attended Abraxas Academy, where he explored trades such as culinary arts, auto mechanics, and carpentry, earning his diploma in 2019. At the time of his death, he was employed with Gene Mac Properties LLC and BMI Contractors. His family, including his mother, Ashley Ferguson, and his sister, Jayviona Patterson, were left to mourn his sudden and violent death. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jeremiah Freeman and Jay'vion Patterson.
As of now, the investigation into Jason Ferguson's death remains ongoing. No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.
