On January 30, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Philadelphia police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3900 block of Melon Street in the Mantua neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Jamie Lea Smith unresponsive in the front living room of a rowhome, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
