In the hallways of the Henry on the Park apartment complex in Philadelphia's Roxborough neighborhood, a visit with family turned into a scene of tragedy for 24-year-old Jamal Dean. It was the evening of Monday, February 21, 2022, and Dean, a resident of Upper Darby in Delaware County, was at the apartment complex on the 7900 block of Henry Avenue. An argument broke out, escalating with a terrifying finality.
The dispute, which occurred while Dean was visiting family members and an
ex-girlfriend, ended in a hail of gunfire. He was discovered in a hallway, having been shot multiple times in his chest, back, thigh, and buttocks. The wounds were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 11 p.m.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Philadelphia police began their investigation. Eyewitnesses at the apartment complex were able to identify the individual they believed to be responsible for the shooting. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the altercation, and no weapon was recovered at the time.
Despite having a name for the person they were seeking, law enforcement officials confirmed that an arrest had not yet been made in connection with Jamal Dean's death. The investigation into the deadly shooting remains ongoing as authorities continue to search for the identified suspect.
