On a tragic day, March 1, 2022, Matriya Shalay Johnson-Shaw, a 37-year-old Black woman, had her life cut short in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Police officers discovered her near the intersection of Ridge Avenue and W. Huntingdon Street in the city's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. She was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
