On January 31, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Pittsburgh police responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts indicating gunfire near the intersection of Webster Avenue and Lawson Street in the Hill District. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims: 30-year-old Derrick D. Eggleton, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and another man with a gunshot wound to the arm.
