In the early morning hours of a cold Wednesday in Versailles, a suburb of Pittsburgh, the life of Andrew Walter McGee was tragically cut short. On February 1, 2017, the 28-year-old man from McKeesport was found inside a home on Third Street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response of Allegheny County police, who arrived at the scene shortly before 4 a.m., McGee was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, John Robert Sethman, who was 29 years old at the time. Authorities determined that Sethman was responsible for the fatal shooting, but he had fled the area in an attempt to evade capture. His time as a fugitive was short-lived, however. Later that same day, law enforcement located and apprehended Sethman in Lancaster, Ohio. He was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Sethman was charged with one count of homicide in connection with Andrew McGee's death. He was initially held in an Ohio jail as he awaited extradition back to Pennsylvania to face the charges against him. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young man, with his family suggesting that those who wished to honor his memory could make memorial contributions to a fund for victims of violent crimes.
