On the evening of March 13, 2024, a dispute in the 900 block of Franklin Street in Reading, Pennsylvania, escalated to a fatal conclusion. Antonio Carrero, a 21-year-old man, was shot and killed following what authorities have described as an altercation. First responders were called to the scene at approximately 10:15 p.m., where they found Carrero deceased.
He was a father to a two-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter and was engaged to be married.
The investigation into the shooting led police to identify 27-year-old Jonathan Minier as the suspect. Following the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Minier. He was subsequently taken into custody by the Berks County Emergency Response Team and the Reading Police Department. Minier has been charged with homicide and related firearms offenses. He is currently being held in custody without bail as the legal proceedings continue.
