On Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, 16-year-old Kevin Wilson was tragically shot and killed in the Wilkinsburg neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire of a violent altercation that he had no part in. The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Hill Avenue, where a dispute that began on social media escalated into a physical confrontation.
The conflict reportedly began over insults posted on Facebook regarding one of the
suspect's children. A group of individuals, some armed with baseball bats, arrived on Hill Avenue and a fight broke out. During the brawl, multiple gunshots were fired. Kevin Wilson, who was standing outside a nearby residence, was struck in the chest by a stray bullet. First responders arrived to find the teenager wounded and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators at the scene recovered at least 15 shell casings from multiple firearms.
The investigation into Kevin Wilson's death led to the identification and arrest of four suspects. Two women, 23-year-old Kira Jackson and 23-year-old Alicia Johnson, were the first to be charged. They faced charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and carrying a firearm without a license. Jackson was taken into custody, and Johnson later turned herself in to the authorities. Nearly a year after the shooting, two more suspects were charged in connection with the crime. Omar Campbell, 19, and Eugene Camp, 22, were charged with homicide and conspiracy, among other offenses. Investigators stated that Campbell and Camp had discussed committing a drive-by shooting on the night of the incident.
In March of 2026, Eugene Camp and Omar Campbell pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for their roles in Kevin Wilson's death. As part of a plea agreement, Camp was sentenced to serve seven to 14 years in state prison, while Campbell received a sentence of six to 14 years. The cases against Kira Jackson and Alicia Johnson were also proceeding through the legal system, with both being held for trial following a preliminary hearing. All four individuals were held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail following their arrests.
