On April 20, 2024, 15-year-old Ahsan "Peanut" Edwards was fatally shot in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. at Third Street Park, where Edwards was socializing with friends. An assailant approached from the street and fired multiple shots, striking Edwards in the chest. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

In the days following the shooting, Allegheny County Police conducted witness interviews and reviewed surveillance footage, leading them to identify 17-year-old Delvon Johnson as the primary suspect. Investigators uncovered a possible motive rooted in a prior altercation: the previous summer, one of Edwards' brothers had shot Johnson in the leg, an incident believed to have prompted Johnson to seek retaliation against Edwards.

On April 26, 2024, Johnson was apprehended in Orlando, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Orlando Police Department. He was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and illegal possession of a firearm. At the time of his arrest, Johnson was awaiting extradition to Allegheny County to face these charges.

The tragic death of Edwards, a student at the Sto-Rox School District, deeply affected the local community. In response, the district provided counseling services to support grieving students and staff. Community members expressed sorrow over the loss and concern about the cycle of violence affecting local youth.
