On a summer evening in Philadelphia, 48-year-old Rasheedah Lane was found on the 2100 block of North Camac Street with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred on July 9, 2024, shortly before 10 p.m. First responders rushed her to Temple University Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries about an hour later.
The investigation into the female victim's death led to a suspect turning himself in to the authorities.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, 67-year-old Jerome Edens of North Philadelphia surrendered to the police.
Following his surrender, Edens was charged with the murder of Rasheedah Lane. In addition to the murder charge, he also faces charges for firearms offenses and tampering with evidence. Police have stated that he did not have a permit for the gun.
