On the evening of July 22, 2024, 27-year-old Philadelphia resident Jair Mack was fatally shot in the Kensington neighborhood. At approximately 10 p.m., while crossing the street near the intersection of Kensington and Allegheny avenues with an unidentified woman, a dark-colored Jeep approached. A passenger exited the vehicle and pursued Mack, firing multiple shots. Mack sustained several gunshot wounds and was found at G Street and Allegheny Avenue.
He was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:53 p.m.
The assailant fled the scene but was observed by responding officers, leading to a foot pursuit. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Jaylen Holloway, was apprehended on the 3100 block of Potter Street after attempting to discard a firearm. Holloway has been charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, violations of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA), and related offenses. Authorities are actively searching for the driver of the Jeep, who remains unidentified and at large.
The investigation into Mack's death is ongoing, with police seeking additional information to apprehend the accomplice involved in the incident.
