On January 5, 2023, officers from the Mount Olive Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 242 Franklin Street. Upon arrival, they found 33-year-old Anthony Fitzgerald Price in the passenger seat of a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Wayne County Emergency Medical Services pronounced him deceased at the scene.
