Delquawn Antonio Newton, a 28-year-old African American male, was found dead on June 8, 2022, behind a Dollar General store near Rones Chapel in Duplin County, North Carolina. The Duplin County Sheriff's Office reported that Newton's body had multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made around 10 a.m. on that Wednesday morning.
