On January 20, 2023, at approximately 8:09 p.m., 32-year-old Rashaad Devaughn Pitts was fatally shot while waiting in the drive-thru of a Popeyes restaurant located at 500 North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers found Pitts deceased in the parking lot, having succumbed to gunshot wounds.
