On October 15, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers from the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of East Devonshire Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Jassy Vargas Salinas, a resident of Germanton, North Carolina, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and emergency medical personnel, Salinas was pronounced dead at the scene.
