On March 15, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., 19-year-old Zion Sincere Wilder was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting at a residence on Goldsboro Avenue in Statesville, North Carolina. A 15-year-old boy, identified as Wilder's cousin, was also critically injured in the attack and transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. At the time of the shooting, three adults and three juveniles, aged 14, 16, and 17, were present in the home.
