On April 4, 2023, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Greensboro Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Sullivan Street, near the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they found 18-year-old Deja Rae Reaves, a freshman at the university, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
