On May 27, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a shooting incident on West Third Street near Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Ryan Shamel Elliott, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Despite prompt medical attention, Elliott was pronounced dead at the scene.
