On June 25, 2023, at approximately 4:08 p.m., the Robeson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 5100 block of Smith Mill Road near Lumberton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 21-year-old Alex E. Taylor deceased from gunshot wounds. Also present was 46-year-old Nicky Jackson, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
