Lloyd William Chamberlain IV, a 37-year-old commercial fisherman, went missing on February 14, 2016, after departing from Port Canaveral, Florida. He set off on his 17-foot SeaPro center console boat around 10:30 a.m. with plans to return by dusk. When Chamberlain failed to come home, his family became concerned and discovered his truck and boat trailer still parked at the marina. Authorities were notified, and a search was launched.
The last ping from Chamberlain’s cell phone was detected around 11:32 p.m., approximately 2.5 nautical miles offshore near Indian Harbor Beach. Shortly after midnight, the Coast Guard located his boat adrift along the shoreline, but Chamberlain was not aboard. Despite an extensive search covering over 5,000 square miles, neither Chamberlain nor further clues were found. The search was called off after four days, and he is presumed lost at sea.
