On July 1, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 5400 block of Picket Fence Lane, a residential area off Buck Jones Road in Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers observed several townhomes damaged by bullets; however, no injuries were reported, and no victims were located at that time.
Two days later, on July 3, landscapers working near the same area discovered the body of 28-year-old Dexter Rashad Ingram in a wooded area behind the townhomes. Authorities quickly linked Ingram's death to the earlier shooting incident and initiated a homicide investigation.
In the following weeks, Raleigh police arrested multiple suspects in connection with Ingram's death. On August 16, 2023, 27-year-old Derashio Devonte Wilson and 23-year-old Lashanae Evelony Gee, both from Durham, were apprehended and charged with murder. Subsequently, on November 30, 2023, 21-year-old Julian Devonne Lunsford was also arrested and charged with murder in relation to the case.
The arrests brought some measure of relief to Ingram's family and the local community, who had been seeking justice for his untimely death. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
