On the fateful day of September 4, 2019, Jaquan Tyrone Dumas was shot in broad daylight in
the 2700 block of Community Drive in Raleigh. The incident occurred just after 1 p.m., and Jaquan was taken to WakeMed, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The shooting also claimed the life of 28-year-old Vincente Arocho, a burgeoning North Carolina rapper known as Box Carlito.
The Raleigh Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the double homicide. Within days, they arrested three suspects in connection with the murders. Jonathan Isaiah Manning, 21, and Tyshon Gerod Solomon, 22, were charged with two counts of first-degree murder on September 7, 2019. A third suspect, Jesse Dontez Frazier, 22, was later arrested and also charged with two counts of murder.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred just one day after Box Carlito bailed Jaquan Tyrone Dumas out of the Wake County Detention Center.
