In the early hours of July 23, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Durham police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 1100 block of Holloway Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Brandon Lamar Wiggins suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported Wiggins to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
