On August 31, 2023, Durham, North Carolina, experienced a series of shootings that resulted in two fatalities and three injuries. Among the deceased was 22-year-old Devin Rogers of Burlington.
The initial incident occurred around 4:24 p.m. in the 800 block of Fargo Street, where a man sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound. A juvenile suspect was detained in connection with this shooting.
Approximately 28 minutes later, at 4:52 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Holloway Street and Brye Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Robert Terrell of Durham deceased on the sidewalk.
Shortly thereafter, in the 1000 block of North Miami Boulevard, police found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Devin Rogers was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims, an adult male and a juvenile, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of now, no arrests have been reported in connection with the shootings involving Devin Rogers and Robert Terrell. The Durham Police Department is actively investigating these incidents and has not yet determined if the shootings are related.
